One of the areas where horsepower can be found is the intake which comprises the induction of air through an air filter and then eventually into your engine. This also includes turbos which compress air and force it into your engine providing more oxygen to burn and therefore increasing horsepower.

Nitrous also falls into this category because it is usually fed in through the inlet manifold adding to the intake charge but there are more complex methods of injecting nitrous such as direct port injection.
