MOMO Competizione Gear Knob

MOMO Competizione Gear Knob

Loved it! Suits interior well and the gear shifting feels better... but bought it mainly due to it looking smooth and shiny! Price from ModYourC...

The 6-point weld-in cage in LE RX7

Initially when I was looking at roll cages I was contemplating a bolt-in cage from CUSCO but after speaking to a few people I decided to go with a weld-in 6-point cage by Steve Maitland here in Perth. Why? Well Steve makes CAMS approved cages which means the cage will be approved for any CAMS related events I might enter (or a future owner). Steve is very well known in Australia for his cages and I have done some work with him in the past.

The CUSCO cage or similar bolt-in cages come around the dash at the front but the weld-in cage Steve has put in the car goes right up against the a-pillar and down behind the dash - giving the best possible result while maximising cabin space up front. I also went a little further with side intrusion bars, a bar through the center from front to back along the roof, the rear cross from top to bottom and of course the harness bar. I also had Steve put in the necessary tow hooks at the front and rear of the car.

Check out a few pics of the job, I am pretty stoked with it!

With the cage in LE RX7 finished the next step is for us to clean the cabin which means stripping all the Dynamat sound deadening, some welding/plating etc... From there it will be off to have the dash and door trims made (more on that soon).

The K-Sport brakes are also in already and will be fitted shortly. I went for 8-pot fronts and 6-pot rear, which should provide plenty of stopping power!

Hey Simon! Yer man we using dry ice to get it off - all good! Thanks for the feedback, appreciated!

Dan, you probably know this, but sound deadening stuff is way easier to remove if you freeze it. Get some dry ice .
Nice cage by the way, I'm looking forward to seeing the car when it's all in one bit. Love the rxs!

I just saw the cage myself for the first time in real life.... looks a lot better in real life. Steve has done an epic job! The tow hooks look good too!
