Best Motoring International 7: The EVO Strikes Back

With apologies to George Lucas, Best Motoring brings you volume seven of their top quality fast car series: The Evo Strikes Back!

It’s the first drive of the new Evolution VIII the Best Motoring team have lined it up against its performance and market segment rival – the Subaru STi.

This time around it’s a five way shootout between a Spec C STi, a GSR EVO VIII, a standard STi and two standard EVO VIII RS models, one five-speed and one six-speed. They don’t hold anything back resulting in a tight, hard-fought race.

There is an interesting comparison between three different-spec EVO VIIIs. A road-spec RS, the Advan rally-spec and the PUMA GT Production race-spec version compete in a handicap-style race.

Something new for the International edition of Best Motoring DVD is the My Car Challenge. The owners of modified cars, in this case a Toyota Starlet GT turbo and a Mazda Series VIII RX-7, challenge the professional Best Motoring steerers to a time trial - in their own cars! For further incentive, if the pros lose to the amateurs then the heads get shaved.

A regular feature of the Best Motoring DVDs is the Touge Challenge. This time it’s a big elimination contest between 9 drift challengers as they battle it out for the right to take on the Touge king.

All the challengers are modified cars presented by the workshops for the pro drivers to drive and evaluate. There are plenty of surprises in this battle for drifting supremacy.This time the challengers are:

As expected with any Best Motoring DVD, the production quality is second-to-none, the in-car footage, camera angles - including ‘pedal-cam’ - and action footage is superb and you get a realistic impression of what it’s like to race these cars on the track and the exhilaration of challenging the Touge course.
